Precise gestures that require strength in the execution while projecting an image of lightness are the hallmark of Inversus, whose backdrop is the limit between madness and sanity, right and wrong. The performance combines circus arts and contemporary dance and features two female protagonists. “Inversus reflects on female empowerment, a pertinent subject that is much discussed nowadays,” says Andressa Moreira, producer of the show.

The two artists support each other throughout the performance, further enhancing each woman’s strength. The aerial acrobatics are the highlight of the show. At one point, Fernanda Arruda and Daiane Aguilera rotate together, in perfect synchrony, on the trapeze. There are also mirrored choreographies in which the artists make the same gestures facing each other, almost as if they were two facets of one single woman.
