Babel, glöm challenges the limits of strength and balance to discuss the concepts of individuality and collectivity. “The performance is about living together and dealing with differences. We want to explore the tension between ‘being yourself’ and ‘staying together,'” says artist Anouck Le Roy.

Babel, glöm means “Babel, forget it”, an invitation, according to Anouck, to go beyond the biblical myth of the Tower of Babel, whose construction was interrupted because people who spoke different languages couldn’t understand each other. The idea behind the performance is to use whatever seems to separate us to make us stronger.

Bringing together six acrobats from four different countries, the work highlights the cultural diversity of the group as well as the individual repertoire of each artist, displaying unity through acrobatic techniques that are performed collectively. The artists often say their lines in their own native language, showcasing the irony of their attempts to communicate, which are usually only successful through gestures. This is the first piece by the Swedish company Kaaos Kaamos.
