The universe of the sea and fishing is the background for Hai, a poetic adventure that combines illusionism, clowning and gestural theater techniques

With the precision of an illusionist and the spontaneity of a clown, performer Joana Rhein takes on a fun foray into the universe of the sea and fishing. Objects appear, disappear and change shape. A small shell suddenly grows. A fish prop releases soap bubbles, which soon start coming out of the protagonist’s mouth. The lace of an old shoe turns into a rose.

Geared at children, Hai, Fisher of Dreams brings references to illusionism, clowning, visual poetry and gestural theater. Using techniques such as the manipulation of objects and puppets, Joana plays with the audience, creating what she calls a “psycho-magical experience.”

“It’s a poetic adventure through the ocean of imagination where, through awareness and creative play, we can awaken a state of freedom and love,” says the artist, who is also the co-creator of the show. With no dialogue, the performance has an original soundtrack.
