Contemporary circus dramaturgy reflects the plurality of creative individual and collective processes that involve the construction of each work. But how does the initial idea for a show come about? How to translate ideas, themes and sensations on the scene? What are the longings in the art of composing and representing a story?
Geared to artists, pedagogues, thinkers, writers and those with general interest in the circus, the activity covers new ways to build narratives in which the body and movement are the central elements, but giving due importance to style and artistic stances, as well as sociocultural, ideological and aesthetics concepts.
Rodrigo Matheus, instructor and master of circus techniques at UNESP, founder and artistic director of Circo Mínimo, will mediate this conversation. Rodrigo studied circus arts at Circo Escola Picadeiro, in São Paulo, and Fool Time Circus Arts school, in Bristol (England). Erica Stoppel holds a Master degree in performing arts from Unicamp and is co-founder of Piccolo Circo Teatro de Variedades. Leandro Mendoza is director of the Ecuadorian show Guadual and of the festival Trapezi, Fira del Circ in Catalunya. Lu Lopes (Clown Rubra) is writer and director of plays. She founded the House of Human High Technology (CATHUM) and a method of artistic creation based on the creative autonomy.
