Cia. Las Martas is comprised of six artists who execute balancing, juggling and dancing acts to a soundtrack that includes salsa, cumbia and forró. They take turns playing the saxophone, trumpet, cymbals, bass drums, clarinet and other instruments, while also performing ad-libbing comedy, in so-called gags or improvisations.

Presented as an itinerant procession, the company’s objective is to provoke a reflection about the role of women in today’s society, addressing their relationship with the world and the ties that encourage them and foster acceptance.

Founded in 2014, Cia. Las Martas brings together South American street performers. According to the group, the “Marta” character present in the show and in the company’s name is the synthesis of many women and their different skills.
