What does it mean to do a critic? Where is the performance inserted, in aesthetic, technical, political and historical terms? How does it dialogue with society? These questions guide the workshop, which aims to raise questions and help train critics familiar with circus language, a specialty not well developed in the Brazilian context.

The goals are: to contextualize contemporary circus production within a historical overview, to explain the concepts that define the critique of a work of art and, finally, to promote the writing of reviews of the shows in the festival. The texts are individually created and discussed by the group.

Maria Carolina Vasconcelos Oliveira is a circus artist and sociologist. She has Masters and Doctorate degrees in sociology from FFLCH-USP and she is a contemporary circus researcher.

For journalists, Communication students and artists. Previous application required; see more.
