Physical risk, uncertainty about the outcome, expectations surrounding the presentation. Probabilities is an investigation of these issues, which are part of the very nature of the circus. In pairs or in groups of four, the artists form pyramids and human seesaws, among other acts. The bodies rest on each other and then on a bar, which serves as the platform for rolls, somersaults and flips, a few meters from the ground.

“We usually perform in public spaces and want to show people that it doesn’t take much to do extraordinary things. With a lean structure, just one bar and our bodies, we can build images and gestures that break down barriers”, says Debora Ishikawa, artist and producer of the collective.

Coletivo Lateral was created when artists from Companhia Gravitá and Grupo Eleve Circo e Arte came together to take to the streets circus performances that communicate with people’s daily routine.
